Never Get Paged for an Expired Certificate Again
June 15, 2026 · 5 min read
Certificate expiry is one of the most common self-inflicted outages, and one of the most preventable. Automated renewal via ACME is the first line of defense, but renewal jobs fail silently more often than teams expect.
Layer monitoring on top: check the live certificate on the socket (not just the file on disk) and alert at 30, 14 and 3 days remaining. Checking the served certificate catches load balancers still presenting an old cert after a renewal.
NetInsight's SSL Checker reports days remaining and flags mismatched hostnames and legacy TLS versions in one pass.
